In 2018, our founder, Tricia Richards-Service, was asked to serve on a committee to plan a local speaker event. The committee had $1,000 allocated for speaker fees. Committee members couldn’t identify a suitable speaker through their personal networks, and the group didn’t have enough funding to find a speaker using a speakers’ bureau. For three painful hours, the committee examined all options and found none. Frustrated that there was no central place to find a qualified speaker at any price point, Tricia decided to build one. I Need A Speaker was launched in August 2020, and it now has more than 1,300 users globally.
